Summer Skirt Upcycle!

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

So for the past few weeks I've REALLY wanted to make a skirt, which is weird in itself, because I really cannot stand to wear skirts. Quite frankly, I hate them. But I made one, and I know someone who will like it, but I couldn't give it away without a post about it, first.
Every thing in this skirt I had on hand, so its fully up-cycled! Follow the jump!

Apple Pie Mini-Goodness

Monday, May 10, 2010

So today I made little apple pies, because OH has a long week ahead, and I figured a small apple pie would have a lot of crust (OH's favorite part of an apple pie).
They ended up looking kind of like muffins, but hey, OH liked them, and that's why I made them.  Follow the jump for the recipe!
Aren't they cute?
And I learned that even after being in the oven for 45 seconds, a muffin tin can still burn your hand!

Oh how I've missed you!

It's been a long time since I've written, and I apologize about that! Visiting my family was fantastic, and Charleston is so beautiful, I love it so!
I had a wonderful birthday while I was there, the city even held a parade in my honor. Or St. Patrick's honor. One of us, I like to think it's me.

I've been a busy busy bee getting ready and then going to my first craft fair.
Can't wait to get back to fun random projects, but until then I've got a picture heavy post for you!
Oh! Don't forget to check out my new Etsy!

Soap and water and common sense are the best disinfectants.

I just got done making some soap. I had made a bunch for all my family at Christmas, and now everyone wants some more, and since I'm driving 6 hours to visit my mother, I thought I'd make her some.

OH has sensitive skin, and we decided to make some soap that would work for it.
It was basically "Here lets put this in too and see if it works."
Eventually we got a good recipe...though it sounds crazy.

olive oil, shea butter, almond milk, honey, finely ground oatmeal, and a hint of peppermint oil, for that extra boost on the mornings we need to wake up.
I've got no real recipe, we just kinda go by feel. I love it because I can get that clean feeling with no sticky feeling brand soaps give.
We got the soap stamp things at Micheal's, and I love the damask print one (top bar), it was the whole reason we bought the set!

love and glue guns,

one more note...

The Girl Creative

My baby Simon is purring...while his brother Peanut keeps staring at him wondering what hes doing.

Oh, I'm so excited!

After a horrible few hours to start my day off, I had a lovely surprise! I went to check the mail, and had a package, (side note, I LOVE getting packages), inside of it was large selection of Moda Flutterby fabric squares! Definitely uplifted my day, tenfold.

So many cute prints, and too many ideas! I'll keep you posted.
love and glue guns,

Doggy Bed!

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

So this weekend my OH thought it would be a good weekend to learn to sew! So I taught.
It was a fun experience, I had made dog beds before, and OH wanted to make one for a co-worker.

We used a bunch of fleece squares and some solid black. It took two days, but the quality time was worth it!

Photos and more after the jump!
